I'm happy to report that my husband is no longer a second year medical student. He finished his second year last week and although it has not been an easy road, he made it. I'm so grateful to everyone who warned us about this second year...because even though there is really nothing that can prepare you to go through it, at least we had an idea of what Scott was going to go through...They say that if you endure through the first two years, you are for sure on the road of really becoming a doctor. Now, it is becoming more real, for all of us...and this makes me proud and grateful. The other day, I got the General Conference Ensign in the mail. I came across Elder Uchtdorf's Priesthood session talk called "Continue in Patience." It couldn't have been better timing...I felt like that talk was given just for us.
"...patience [is] far more than simply waiting for something to happen-patience require[s] actively working toward worthwhile goals and not getting discouraged when results [don't] appear instantly or without effort."
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
{He did it!}
I'm grateful to Scott for enduring through these first two years of medical school. He has worked hard. He had last weekend off and now he is off studying for boards, which he will take June 28th. He will start his first rotation (OBGYN) July 1st.
No breaks.
The kiddos and I will be heading to Utah and Idaho next month for a month to visit family and let Scott focus 100% on studying to take the boards...we will miss him so much...
But like Elder Uchtdorf said:
"Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can-working, hoping, and exercising faith; bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring; it is enduring well!"
Scott can't wait for his first rotation in July! He will finally be in the hospitals helping people! The thought motivates him and makes him happy and it makes me happy to know that he will be doing something he loves!
After June 28th, no more sitting in a classroom, no more studying in a cubicle living a sedentary life...{well, at least until the second part of boards come around} ha!:)
We are proud of you Scottie!
We are part of the GWU Med-Families Association and we had our closing social on Saturday.
These guys and their wives are awesome!
{Erick , Scott, Mike, Rob, Jared & Ryan}
We missed you Tyson and family, Cory and family!!! and both of our first years and their wives!
{I wish I had a picture with all of the girls, this is Val and she is just awesome! She's about to have a little girl.}
Thanks for everything Val, Alyson, Linzie and Alyssa! You will definitely be missed!
We also have a Med-Wives group, we meet once a month to chat about what is like to be wives to medical students. I LOVE getting together with everyone because it is SUCH a support. Everyone is so helpful and encouraging. It's a blessing to have a listening ear and encouraging words, especially from the families that have gone before us, their advice is always invaluable.
We are going to miss our 4th years but we are so happy for you and your families!:)

CONGRATS SCOTT ON ENDURING TO THE END OF TWO YEARS. HAVE A GOOD TIME STUDYING AND TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR SELF.
Good job Scott and, really good job to you Denisse. This is as much your victory as Scott's. What a great encouragement you both must be to each other.
Way to go to both of you! I'm sure that Scott will make a wonderful doctor, and after all is said and done, hopefully you'll be grateful for all of these sacrifices.
Denisse - I'm sure you'll have plenty of family to visit, but if you have extra time, I'd love to see you and your kids. We are living in Orem. You can email me if you want phone or address.
