Our Summer Days│Part I

I will continue with my blogging efforts, because like I have mentioned before, this blog is THE ONE worthwhile thing I do on the internet.  It has proven to be hard to keep up with since Brooke joined our family...I sometimes have to realize that I am the mother of three children and they are my priority.  This blog has been an outlet for me in so many ways and I'm grateful that I can capture part of our lives in here.  Mostly all the good and wonderful parts of it, the things that I want my children to remember about our life together.

This summer is flying by and for the most part I have been enjoying not having a set schedule and no homework to worry about for Brielle and Braden.  Our garden is doing so great, we've been harvesting radishes and zucchini, which has been so fun for our family! We have more stuff growing and not quite ready to harvest but I am especially anxious for our tomatoes and peaches.

The weather has been super hot lately and one Monday night we had a water fight with our neighbors.

Not only did the kids have a water fight but also Scott and Jeff.  It started with Jeff getting Scott with the water in the cooler...

Then, it got a little more competitive...

Scott tried everything to get Jeff, but he was getting Scott good with the hose...

Until Scott finally got Jeff back! That man didn't give up...so funny! Scott was soaked from head to toe.
Fun times!

Our good friends Katie and Dave blessed their little baby girl Addie.  We were able to go to the blessing and to a brunch after.  It was so fun to be there and share that special moment with them.

It made realize though, that Brooke is not a baby anymore.  It seems like yesterday, when she was a newborn like Addie.  It makes me a little sad.

Katie's mom made Addie's blessing dress.  It was so beautiful and every detail was perfect.

I'm so glad we got to see the Lemke's and share this occasion with them.
They have been such great friends and I'm grateful for their friendship.

Mr. Braden has been project obsessed this summer.  He has a project in mind almost every week, if not almost everyday.  He works hard on them and is constantly asking me for materials to make them.  It can drive a mom crazy sometimes! But I don't want to discourage his creativity and initiative to be creative and spend his time doing worthwhile things, instead of wasting away his time watching movies.
So, I am glad that he LOVES to spend his time making things.  He is a very insistent little boy and will not take no for an answer.  He will ask and ask and ask for a certain material he needs until he gets it.  For the most part he creates these things all by himself, with no help or very little help from me or Scott.  He knows how to execute and make things happen.  He sees things made on a show called Artzooka and he gets all these ideas for projects, sometimes he comes up with his projects on his own and other times he gets them from that show.  I love that he is creative and loves working with his hands.  I've been telling him that he really needs to consider becoming an engineer of some sort, when he grows up.  He was receptive to the idea at first, but a week or two ago we had this conversation:

Braden: How long is college mom?
Denisse:  It depends...if you want to become an engineer, it's 4 years.
(Subliminal message:become an engineer!)
Braden: Hmm, well, I don't think I want to be an engineer.  I want to be a doctor like dad.  Doctors help people mom! Engineers make cars and stuff that is bad for the environment.

When did this boy became an environmentalist?
I don't know where he is getting his ideas from...

I still think he can become a very good engineer!:)
But I guess, he is free to choose...:)
