My brother has been telling that we HAVE to go the the Arboretum here in D.C. for a while now...we finally made a trip. It was a super hot day and the kids were tired but it was worth it! There was a Bonsai exhibit going on when we went. It was fun for Brielle and Braden to see the "baby trees" as they called them.

There is this big pool area where they have tons and tons of fish. I don't think I've ever seen that many fish at one time....and they were all starving!!! We had some pretzels and were feeding them some until we read that we couldn't feed them anything but their fish food...

Hungry?

My brother loves to take pictures...he's pretty good at it!:)

Such beautiful water lilies...

I guess they have one of the largest collections of bonsai trees in North America at the Arboretum. This museum is just one part of the Arboretum, there are beautiful gardens all around...we didn't get to see the rest...but we will for sure be returning to see the rest this fall.

The kids were calling the trees "baby trees". Brielle was starring intently at the little man sitting under the bonsai...

One tired boy...not a happy camper...
Brielle was posing for the picture...a miracle...because that NEVER happens!!!
So much love...they just like squeezing each other a little bit too much when they are hugging...ha ha:)
Snack time...man! it was hot that day!...we were all sweaty...
Aren't they precious? Seriously...they are so amazing! So much work goes into these trees becoming bonsai trees...it's amazing that someone has that much patience, it's a tedious process! What a great hobby...some of the trees that were in the exhibit were from the 1800's!
Just beautiful!
I was wishing I could jump into that water...it looked so refreshing!
Hot and sweaty...
I wish the kids would have cooperated more...but that's the way the cookie crumbles with the kiddos...I'm just glad they were able to run around and experience looking at the bonsai trees and the fish and the beautiful nature that was there...it was a great outing...and the best part? It was FREE!!! You can't beat that! We will be going there again...:)
