Happy 27th Birthday Scott!!! We love you!

10 Things We LOVE about Scott!

#1 Scott can hold a conversation with anyone, even the rude check out lady at the grocery store!!! He always asks the check out person how their day is going and by the time we are done paying the person has a smile on their face! He is so charming and nice to people all the time! (But sometimes the next thing that I love about Scott comes in the way...)

#2 I love that Scott is so blunt!!! Sometimes a little bit too blunt!!! But he definitely wouldn't be the Scott we all know and love without that bluntness!!!!!:)

#3 I love that Scott is such a goofball! He can make any akward situation light!!! He really doesn't take himself too seriously! He is always cracking jokes and most the time I think they are funny...other times...he just cracks himself up!!!!!:)

#4 He is such a hard worker!!! When it comes to work or studying, he seldom complaints about work!

#5 Scott is soooooooooooo positive!!! He always puts me at ease if I'm ever worried about stuff! His favorite line to tell me is: 'Everything is going to work out, don't worry' Everything always works out in the end, just like he always tells me! I know we are in trouble if Scott ever is the one worrying!!!:)

#6 I love that Scott is such a loving dad to Brielle and Braden! The kids love it when Scott comes home from work! They run to the door and give him hugs and kisses! He sits on the carpet and tickles them and is goofy with them!!! It is the best to watch them!

#7 I love that Scott is so intelligent and logical! If we ever have conversations and we are not agreeing he has a way of making his thought so logical that it completely makes sense to me and I end up agreeing with him!!!

#8 Scott is very compassionate! He would literally take off his coat and give it to someone else! He is always willing to serve and is an awesome home teacher!

#9 I love that Scott is a good son to his parents! He is very loving with them and gives his mom and dad hugs all the time! I think it is so cute!!! (That is one of the things that attracted me to Scott when we were dating...how loving and polite he was with them!)

#10 I love that Scott is such an awesome husband! He is the sweetest man and he is always so loving! I truly feel blessed to have him as a husband! I couldn't have asked for a better man!!!!! I'm so happy that I can share my life forever with you babe!!! Thanks for always making me laugh and for all the good and interesting conversations we always have!!! Thank you for always working so hard for us! I am proud of you!!!! You are the best!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

The Easter Bunny Came to Visit Us...

I have to post some pictures of Easter...we had a great day...we started with an egg hunt around the apartment and then went to breakfast with Scott's family, we went to Church with them and then went back to the Jensen's and had a FEAST!!!! I ate so much and enjoyed time with Scott's family. Scott's whole familiy was there plus his grandma and his aunt. It was nice to share Easter with everyone.

I have always been bothered by the fact that sometimes we have these traditions during holidays like the Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs and have NO IDEA the meaning behind these things. I didn't bother to find out before...I guess because I didn't have children and the Easter Bunny and Egg Hunts were never part of our tradition growing up. However, I do want them to be part of our family now and I want to be able to teach Brielle and Braden the meaning of the things we do. So I went on a search on the internet and this is what I found:

The Easter Bunny is a rabbit-spirit. Long ago, he was called the "Easter Hare", hares and rabbits have frequent multiple births so they became a symbol of fertility. The custom of an Easter egg hunt began because children believed that hares laid eggs in the grass. The Romans believed that "All life comes from an egg." Christians consider eggs to be "the seed of life" and so they are symbolic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I LOVE that I was able to find a connection with the Savior to all of this...because in all reality HE is the one we are remembering during Easter! It is interesting to think that the Easter Bunny by bringing eggs to our home is symbolic of bringing life! And that is exactly what the Savior has done for us literally!!!! What a wonderful connection!!!! Knowing this made my Easter so much more meaningful!!!

This is what Braden has been up to lately...

Mr. Braden has been very curious lately...as you can see from these pictures! I walked into the kids' bedroom one day and this is what I found!!! Scary!!! Needless to say, I have confiscated the little chairs, they are hiding in my closet! First it was Brielle climbing and trying to get into everything and now it is Braden!!!

My little Braden is growing way to fast! He's becoming more and more independent. He LOVES to eat on his own...it's a bit hard for me I have to admit because I'm the one who has to clean up the huge mess afterward..

I have to admit that I think Mr. Braden is a mommy's boy! He is always so sweet and likes to cuddle with his mommy! I love it!!!

Kem's Ride for World Health

I hope you all take time to read this about my brother. I must say that I think he is an incredible man and I hope this helps him some. I know we are all poor but you really don't have to donate a lot, even if all you can give is a few dollars, we will be very grateful and you will be helping a great cause! You can go to the official Ride for World Health website: http://www.rideforworldhealth.org/ and visit his personal link: www.rideforworldhealth.org/theriders/kramirez.html
Kem will be riding from Phoenix to San Diego (about 500 miles) the last week of March to meet the team and get in shape on the way. Then the team will ride to Washington D.C. (some 3,700 miles), making major stops along the way which include; San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Ceder City, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Springfield, Columbus, and Washington D.C.
If anyone in the corporate world sponsors R4WH, they can have their logo in ALL advertising media.
The same Videographer who did Lance Armstrong's Tour of Hope Documentary is doing a documentary on the ride, so this will be great advertisement for any company!

Ride for World Health (R4WH) is a national, nonprofit organization that advocates for improvements in the quality and accessibility of global health care. Each year, by utilizing a cross-country bike ride as a vehicle of communication, R4WH addresses this issue through political advocacy, fund raising, and its unique Coast-to-Coast Lecture Series. This year the trip will take place the first week in April and the bikers will travel across the country from San Diego to Washington D.C. This year the money raised will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING!!!

When you meet an amazingly selfless, driven person it is hard to forget them. Their love for God, family, and the world they live in is inspiring. I would like you to meet KEM RAMIREZ. Despite personal ups and downs on his own personal road of life, this bike rider is driven to hit the road once again for those in need as he rides for world health. Let me share his story with you.

Kem was born in Lima Peru on September 23, 1981. He was born to a good family who valued education and good character. Kem went to grade school in Peru and always excelled in his academic studies. He was always at the top of his class. He loved math and was always good at it. From an early age Kem was compassionate and was aware of the people around him. When Kem was 9, his parents divorced. This has been an event in his life that has shaped who he is in many ways. One of the big changes came when his mom decided to bring his family to the United States, where he had 2 aunts and an uncle who lived in Florida. His mom felt that moving to the U.S. would take them away from the negative atmosphere that existed because of the divorce. Kem’s mother worked in the United States until she could afford to bring over her 2 daughters and son. These were difficult financial times for his family; his divorced mom now had to clean houses in Miami to support Kem and his 2 sisters. Finances were always tight. Once in the United Stats he struggled as he learned English, but he succeeded at it with the help of school and his church.

He started in the 7th grade, and although it was a huge change he also succeeded here in his academic studies. In high school, he excelled in math and science. He also loved his piano class and competed, placing first many times. Kem also loved to draw and is very good at it. Kem graduated with a 3.9 GPA from high school and was accepted to Brigham Young University. At the young age of 17 he ventured out to Provo, Utah with $20 in his pocket, a suitcase full of clothes, and a dream to gain an education. With the help of scholarships and other financial aid Kem was able to pay for his schooling. He also worked during all 4 years doing custodial work for the University at 4am in the morning to be able to buy food and other necessities. The road to obtaining his Bachelor’s degree was rough financially and he was seldom able to go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas because money was tight.

Putting his education on hold, and despite the financial hardships of his family, he chose to save his own money and serve a mission for his church. At 19, Kem served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While serving on his mission, he broke his back. To this day he still has back problems, but rarely complains.

During college Kem’s curiosity for the world around him grew and the desire to help others also grew. Kem decided to major in Public Health. Through his major he was able to travel the world. His first international experience came when he went to Peru and Bolivia conducting a health study with BYU. He helped to educate mothers on how to properly care for their infants. He taught them that breastfeeding is best. Many babies in South America get sick and die because of terrible water supply when feeding them formula. Since then, he has been to countries like Thailand and India. In Thailand he volunteered with a wheelchair foundation and while there he biked across the country and developed a passion for biking. Last summer he also traveled to India where he designed and implemented a health study at a local non-profit organization in South India. He traveled across the country studying major religions of the world. He then returned to Southeast Asia and biked across Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. Through the pain of a once-broken back he manages to bike all over the world. In his travels, he constantly advocates for those who are in need. During his travels Kem has developed an amazing talent for photography and has learned to capture beautiful and exquisite images of the world around us.

Kem graduated in 2006 from Brigham Young University with his degree in Public Health. He eventually wants to get his masters. Recently, he moved to Arizona to work with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as a Bilingual Outreach Coordinator where he helps victims of human trafficking—modern day slavery. In April Kem is planning to pursue his passion for world health through his love of bike riding. He has become involved with Ride for World Health (R4WH). Kem needs to raise $2,500 to be able to make this trip a reality. To date he has only raised a few hundred of the $2,500 needed.

Never before have we known someone so dedicated to public health and the world around them. Kem strives to put others before self. He is one of the most compassionate people we know and has always been that way since he was a little boy. He is a deep thinker who makes people think. Kem really enjoys a good conversation about life. He exemplifies one who is willing to dedicate his self to those in need thereby serving his God - a man of faith, virtue, and loving kindness.

Thank you for your time and consideration. It is greatly appreciated.

Where the heck is my bra?

The story that I'm about to share it's definitely NOT one of my proudest moments...in fact it shows that I think I have lost some neurons since I've become a mom. This morning we were getting ready for Church, as usual, we were running late and I was trying to pick out what to wear, an everyday dilemma for me!!! While I was getting ready I had a million things going through my head...I was thinking: "don't forget to get Braden's bottle and put the snacks in the diaper bag, check to see if the wipes are in the diaper bag , etc, etc. Basically all the things that all moms have to think about before venturing out with the kids...in the process of thinking all of this, like I said I was trying to get myself ready...I decided to wear a white shirt and therefore I needed a white bra. The search for my bra started and as usual, I looked in the drawer where I usually put my bras, nothing...I looked in the other drawers...nothing, I looked in Scott's drawers...nothing. I looked in the dirty clothes...nothing. I started frantically looking for it under the bed, in the kids room, every where around the apartment without success!!!! By then I was REALLY starting to get frustrated that I wasn't finding my white bra...and looking at the clock made me even more frustrated because it was 8:50 and our church starts at 9 o'clock. Then I walked out to the kitchen and I ask Scott in a VERY frustrated voice, 'where the heck do you think my bra went!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you seen it?' In a very serene voice Scott looks at me and says, 'YOU HAVE IT ON!!!' All I could do was laugh and feel dumb!!!! And then we look at Brielle's eye and find that she has pink eye! We ended up not going to Church!

Funny Story!

Yesterday, I went to Wal-Mart with the kids to get a few things including some tennis shoes for Brielle...Scott got her the cutest pair of Dora tennis shoes a little while ago but somehow we lost one...anyway, we were looking around the shoe area and Brielle has been obsessed with anything to do with "Princesses". She even tells me everyday, several times a day, "Mommy! I'm a princess!" So, we were looking for a pair and all the ones they had there were kind of ugly, but somehow, Brielle managed to grab a pair of princess tennis shoes that were about 3 sizes bigger than her size, they were pretty ugly I must add, and she started to say "put it on, mommy, put it on"...so I told her, "No Brielle we aren't getting those, they are too big for your feet". She reluctantly gave them to me and was throwing a little tantrum, nothing too big and then all of a sudden I hear her say to me "Mommy! I'm mad at you! I'm mad at you mommy!" I really had to laugh out loud!!! I thought it was quite funny, she really caught me off guard...I just said, "it's okay Brielle you can be mad at me." The last thing I was expecting her to tell me was that she was mad at me!!! Can you believe this little girl?

A Smart Girl!

I finally caught Brielle on video putting the different shapes in the wooden box. It's fun to watch her try to figure out where each shape goes. She's been able to do this since she was 18 months. We'd like to think that she's a smart girl...but then again I think I might definitely be bias! :) As usual Brielle is wearing no pants and has that crazy hair!!! She takes her pants off every time and won't let me do a pony tail...oh well...

I love Church!

Can I just say that I absolutely LOVE going to Church? I love Sundays! I'm so grateful to be able to set a day of the week aside where I can go to Church and feel uplifted! Going to Church now with 2 children is definitely different than it was when we didn't have any...I guess that is an obvious observation...but even though it is so hard with them, I love being able to feel the Spirit and be reminded of the things that matter most in this life. Sometimes, I only get to sit in on one meeting but to me it is seriously worth it going to Church, even if I just get to do sacrament or relief society.

The talks in sacrament meeting today particularly touched me. They talked about free agency and trials. The brother that talked about trials shared a personal experience that I thought was very touching. He said that one day he was feeling picked on, I think he failed a test or something like that, he was feeling sorry for himself and felt like he had such a hard life. He went home after his crappy day and turned the TV on to TLC, the show was about children with deformities and tumors. At that moment all of his problems became so insignificant...he realized that he had such a wonderful, healthy, happy life!

I have found myself in the same situation sometimes, I feel like my life is so hard and how can anyone keep sane with all the things I have to do and worry about? I think we all feel that way at one point or another...And I guess sometimes it takes moments like those to realize that wow! I'm so blessed and grateful to have healthy children and a good husband, we are all in good health!!!! And those "things" that I thought were so incredibly hard to go through, like looking at my flabbly gut everyday and wishing it wasn't there or thinking that I want to take a nap but I can't or wondering who is going to watch my kids while I go to work for 3 hours, are we going to make the car payment this month??? Those "stressful things" become so insignificant!!! I realize I have such a blessed life!!!! I truly feel so happy and grateful to have the blessing of going to Church and be uplifted. I think the reason why I love going to Church so much is because it allows me to reflect upon what life is really all about more than any other day of the week. And the hymns that we sing always touch me so deeply, sometimes they bring me to tears, they are inspired music and I love thinking about the message of their words! The closing hymn today especially touched me:

1. Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.

In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

2. Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
Believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my ev’ry care
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
I’ll cast on him my ev’ry care
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

If I really stop to contemplate the message of this hymn...Wow! It is deep! I find so much happiness in the gospel! I'm so grateful that I have it! It's one of the greatest treasures anyone can have! It's amazing to have all the knowledge that we have about who we are and what our purposes are on this mortal life and what comes after this life! I just can't imagine my life without it! The gospel puts everything in perspective for me and it gives me a vision that I otherwise wouldn't have!!!

Fun with the Family!

Last Friday, I ventured down to Utah by myself and the 2 kids. Scott couldn't get the days off work, we were very sad about it...The drive was quite the adventure, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be...I made it both ways without stopping and I made it without going insane!!! Both kids were good for the most part...of course my little angel Braden was the best by far, Brielle screamed at the top of her lungs for a little while going both ways...and who could blame the little girl...being stuck in a car for 4 hours is just not fun for anyone! I was happy to make it safely to be with my mom, sister and see family that I haven't seen in years (literally). I realized that seeing family makes me so happy and I'm so glad I drove all the way there. My mom caught pneumonia about a month ago and I have been so worried about her, thankfully and truly miraculously my brother surprised my mom with a visit from Arizona just the day that she had started to really feel sick. My brother was there with her at the hospital, etc. Heavenly Father is always watching out for us. So it was nice to see my mommy and be with her and my sister. My cousin Bonnie recently had a little baby girl. They live in Salt Lake and they blessed their new little girl on Sunday. Our cousins who go to school at BYU and UVSC were also there. It was such a blast!!! I hadn't seen them in about 5 years!!! They both have gone and are back from missions. One of my cousins, René, is already married and has a little boy. When they saw me with my 2 children they couldn't believe it!!! They kept telling me, "Look at you! You are a mom already!!!" It's crazy to see each other all grown up, since we used to play together as kids...we had an awesome dinner after the blessing...Bonnie's husband Gary is an amazing cook! We seriously had a feast!!!!!!! I was soooooo sad when I had to leave!!!!

My mom's work gave her tickets to go to a basketball game at UVSC, so we all went for a little while and had such a great time, I don't even know what teams were playing but it was nice to do something different. It was fun to watch the half time performance by the drill team...they weren't amazing but it was fun.

We went out to eat to a Chinese Restaurant in Provo, it was ok...it didn't compare to Fong's in Rexburg...I'm going to miss that place...Braden's face in this picture cracks me up!!!!

After the basketball game, Braden was ready for bed...as you can see...

When I was little my parents used to swing us like this in a blanket. Braden loved it! He was very happy when they were swinging him but very upset when they stopped!

This is Lydia Andrea, isn't she precious?

My cousin David being silly with Brielle!

This is my chunky boy! He's been really attached to me lately. I didn't go through the whole attachment thing with Brielle so it's been kind of interesting having Braden want me all the time!!!! It's cute...:) most of the time!!!

My cousins Bonnie, René, David & my sister Nya
My aunt Claudia (Bonnie's mom flew in for the blessing from Orlando), the little boy at the bottom is Bonnie's oldest boy, Ian.
