Then there's the "Dora The Explorer" books which I absolutely LOVE and Brielle does too and even Braden gets into Dora. Sometimes we find Diego books but I don't think Diego books are as engaging. (I'm not sure if the authors are the same or not) I love that it teaches Spanish and my kids actually enjoy that very much.
We also LOVE "Llama Llama Red Pajama" by Anna Dewdney. If you haven't heard of that one you should definitely check it out from the library and if you love it buy it because that book is requested a lot around here. Anna Dewdney also has another really cute book called "NoBunny's Perfect". It teaches manners and the illustration is so cute!
We have also found two more authors that are so good. I think these books are more unisex and Braden LOVES reading those books. "No David!" and "David Gets in Trouble" by David Shannon. Braden absolutely loves these books and if it were up to him we would read these books 50 times a day. Both Braden and Brielle have both of those books memorized.
Finally, we like Bill Martin with "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" and other books that are similar to that one. The illustrations in these books are interesting by Eric Carle but for some reason my kids just LOVE the pictures and they are engaged the whole time we read these books.
Anyway, we have more books that we love but these have been the highlights lately. I'm interested in more books for boys. Braden loves airplanes, cars, boats, trains, etc. So if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them! Even if you have suggestions for girls too, we'll take them!:) What are your kids reading? or if you don't have kids have you heard of other good books for children? Please share with us!

I LOVE children's books in general. They are so fun - and we've found some great ones for Avery. First off, we love Mo Willems. He writes the pigeon books, like "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus," as well as "Knuffle Bunny," and "Leonardo, the Terrible Monster." All of his books are fantastic! Another favorite are the Dinosaur books, like "How Do Dinosaur's Say Good-night." I'm not sure who the author is, but there's quite a few of them and they are great. Finally, we love the DK Firsts books, like My First Words, My First Things That Go, and My First Counting Book. They don't tell a story, but just have actual photographs a whole bunch of different things. Avery can't get enough of it. Anywa, hope that helps! And thanks for your suggestions. One can never have enough books.
i love the book Brown Bear!!! So good!! I was registered for that but figured diapers were more important!! lol
Hailey and Brielle have a lot in common. Fancy Nancy, Brown Bear and Charlie and Lola are favorites around here. Even Zach loves watching the cartoon of Charlie and Lola. Hailey does a great British Lola.
Oh, I love Fancy Nancy. We are also big fans of Sandra Boynton. Especially her books that come with CD- Emma loves dancing along to the music. And the rhyming is so clever and cute!
Oh boy! Books! Try:
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault
Where Are You Little Green Dragon by Klaus Baumgart
The feely bug books by David A Carter
and when Brielle and Braden are a little older...
The Laura Numeroff books and Doreen Cronin books
David Shannon is one of our favorite children's authors. Have you looked at some of this other books? Of course, we can't forget one of the all-time greatest children's author, Dr. Suess.
My girls love all of those books too! They also like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and If you give a Mouse a Cookie.
Reading to your children is so fun. I know your enjoying this stage. They grow up so fast! Our favorite books were The Monster Bed by Jeanne Willis and The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams. I loved when Brielle started reading and she would read to me. I would drop everything and sit and listen. I enjoyed the moments of snuggling. The other day Brinley needed to finish a book she wasn't done with and I offered to read the book to her. It was kinda crazy because I read that same boring book in english when I was in 7th grade and I was surprised that she was required to read it as a 5th grader. It was still fun to snuggle on her bed. Being a mother is the greatest opportunity in the world!
What fun... thanks for sharing these books. I'm always on the look out for new books to get my nieces and nephews!
Hey Denisse! Some of our favorite books around here that are loved by all my kids--ages 6 to 1 year are the Five Little Monkey books by Eileen Christelow, I Love You Stinky Face, Caps for Sale, and my all time favorite Five Minutes' Peace (mainly because it really speaks to how I feel some days!) I have a running list on my computer of books that have been recommended as good read alouds for children. I'll e-mail it to you if you would like. I've been homeschooling my kids for two years now and have discovered that read aloud time is the single best way to bring some calm to the day.
Thanks soooo much for the awesome suggestions!!! We are headed to the library this morning with a list of all of your recommendations!!! I can't wait to read them to Brielle and Braden!!!:)
